UPVC

uPVC stands for Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride. It is a type of hard plastic extensively used in the manufacturing of windows and doors.

uPVC ensures heat and cold isn’t transferred into or out of your home, ensuring:

  • Reduced heat loss during winter
  • Reduced heat gain during summer

uPVC has been used throughout Europe, the UK, India, and numerous areas of Asia for the past 50 years. It has proven to be the leading hardware for windows and doors.

With this extensive global experience, uPVC has shown itself capable of withstanding the harshest weather conditions, ensuring safety for your home, and being manufactured in numerous design styles to suit your needs.

Available Profile Colours

To ensure that uPVC windows remain stable and robust even under harsh environmental conditions and intense UV rays, as seen in Australia, Aluplast developed a special uPVC compound called Tropical Mix. This “tropical” formulation and the profiles have been tested and certified by AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association).

Benefits

Bushfire Tested and Certified

Withstand up to a BAL 40 rating (Bushfire Attack Level). Our window and door systems have been tested and rated. Our uPVC frames are self extinguishing and very difficult to ignite and as soon as a direct heat source is removed the flame will extinguish.

Noise Insulation

Create a calm and quiet ambience in your home or office using our multi-chambered profile and thicker glazing units. Our windows can reduce external noise with a sound insulation of up to 40db.

Superior Thermal Capabilities

uPVC is an excellent insulating material preventing the transfer of hot and cold. Due to the clever multichambered profile design, single double and triple glazed units can be used ensuring you stay warm in winter and cool in summer.

UV Stable and Durable

UV stable and durable withstanding the harshest Australian summers and winters and will keep their great looks and superior performance for many years to come.

Safe and Secure

Safe and secure due to the window and door systems being full reinforced and fitted with multipoint locking mechanisms. Your home insurer may even reduce your home and contents premiums.

Sustainable Design

Unlike aluminium uPVC products consume around 7 time less energy to construct. All off-cuts are then recycled and used in the production of Fencing in the Bellarine Area. We believe our products have far more benefits to the environment over their long lifespan compared to other traditional materials.

Reduced Condensation

Due to the multi chambered design of the uPVC frames.

Our multi-chambered uPVC frames are great insulators, they prevent the cold outside temperatures travelling through the frame to connect with the warm, moist air inside your home, this is where condensation is caused.

Minimal Maintenance

Our products require no sanding, filling or painting, they will not corrode, warp, rot or flake and they are resistant to atmospheric pollution and salt air attack

Versatile

Available in a variety of design styles and colours: Multi opening options with the unique “tilt and turn” style to awning, casement, bifold, sliding and hinged windows and doors. All available in over 16 different profile colours to suit any design.

Performance

When selecting your uPVC windows and doors for your home you will often be required to comply with certain performance values for energy efficiency.

With the recent change for all new builds and renovations needing to have a minimum 7-star rating it is essential that your windows and doors have the best U-value and SHGC to achieve this.

U-value

Windows and doors consist of glazing and framing. Both components contribute to the overall performance of the window, called a U-value.

U-values measure the amount of heat passing through a glazed unit in watts; the lower the U-value, the more energy efficient your window is. On average Thermosmart windows and doors have a U-value of 1.7.

SHGC

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient or SHGC is a measure of how much solar radiation passes through the window. The SHGC is important as during summer the SHGC can add large amounts of unwanted heat to your house. Equally in winter the SHGC can be utilised to provide cost and pollution free heat from the sun. On average Thermosmart windows and doors have a SHGC rating of 0.32.
